Hi all,

Just wondering how often to take a breath when doing the dith-du dhirrl exercise from the Hard Tongue CD.

Ok after each dhirrl or even on the dhirrl on the slower rhythms but definitely not on the faster ones.

Tongue starts to get a bit twisted on faster rhythms.

Have been doing the circular breathing and am really happy with it now as it seems to be just a natural action and so good for health.

Cheers,

Garry

Hi Garry,

The more you play the more you'll not be aware of when you breathe. In fact, especially with quicker rhythms, you'll find that you'll be exhaling through your nose as often as you inhale. This happens naturally as your body finds the happy medium and comfort level needed to play efficiently.

Don't think too much about the tonguing - intead, think about the rhythm you'd like to hear and I think you'll find it all starts coming together nicely. Keep at it and post some recordings so we can share the journey with you.

Kyle

Thanks Kyle, I've noticed the circular breathing has changed in that as you said the in and out breath happen more naturally. I don't have to think of the out breath as I was, it was as though air was building up and needed to be expelled. I am expelling through the nose as mentioned.

I've subscribed to howtoplaydidgeridoo.com
It's by a guy here in Sydney, perhaps you could give some feedback on this.

I'll put a sound clip up over the next couple of days.

Cheers,
Garry.

Hey Kyle,
Also wanted to mention I caught up with Mike Jackson for a lesson.
Really enjoyed it and what a nice guy...will definitely follow up with another lesson.
Thanks for the contact,
Garry.
