Hi All,

It's been quite a long time since I've posted here though I do visit often to read what's going on. Seems kind of slow~
Does anyone know of a tuition video/dvd for learning the basics of Western Arnhemland style playing? Are there places on the internet such as youtube or other websites that offer this?
Thanks much!

Yes, things are slow in the didj world these days!

There is the Darryl Dikarrna Mago Masterclass cd ( http://serioussticks.com/mmc_cd.php?language=en ) and there are plenty of mago videos on youtube although I'm not familiar with a learn to play mago video or dvd specifically. The best thing would be to sit with other players familiar with the basic technique and swap tips after you've introduced yourself to the basics on the cd.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Kyle

Thanks for the reply Kyle. I'll look into the Masterclass CD....
I wish there were other players in my area but here on the coast of Maine I've not met other's interested
especially in traditional style...

Richard Savoie is into traditional playing styles and he lives in Montreal, which although not close to you in Maine, is not really far away. Perhaps he'll have an exhibition in the Maritimes sometime and be able to pop down (or you pop up) to see him.

I've not heard much from Richard in some time, but he is a member of this forum and used to post regularly back when things were busy (I think his current user name is GhostofGW).

Keep at it and post some recordings of your playing. We can always help you out online!

Hey Dan,

Busy with the kids growing up, especially at this time of year!

Trust you're doing well down in Brighton. Still playing those sticks?

When I get the chance mate. I was doing well, and will pick again in 2012.
Take care my friend.
