A wonderful start, let's hope he keeps the momentum going!

See also the BBC World News http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-p ... 241965.stm

Such momentum looks promising upon reading one of the other stories which concerns reviewing the sentencing of nine men following the rape of a 10 yr old Aborigine!

Call me a pessimist, but although saying sorry is perhaps a nice gesture, it can also easily be seen as an excuse to say "Well, we apologised nicely, so now everything's fine" and back to business as normal...

Hi there

The problem i have to celebrate with this is that they will stick to the sorry step ...one step at the time they say  when the next one ?

So in the last twelve months we have the Australian government revoking the aborigines hard won land rights, but now we have the government apologizing for stealing their children.

Well aren’t we a big happy family

If I were an aborigine, I would be incensed.
If I were an aborigine, I would be talking to Hesbulla.

Talking doesn’t work.

You're missing something Paul - a change in government. And frankly saying sorry ought to be just the beginning. I don't quite get your point - are you saying the government is racist or misguided or what? Either way, Rudd's government should be given the benefit of the doubt, at least until they do something Howard-esque.

Besides which, some of those rights were 'revoked' with aboriginal permission (Mandawuy Yunupingu's for example).

Talking does work, it just takes longer. In a perfect world Australia would never have been settled by the whites in the first place, in a perfect world the stolen generation would never have happened, and in a perfect world the events of the intervention would never have happened. Well, whats got to happen now is a clean up job. Talking is the first step, and I hope the first not the final.

Just to be clear, it was not Mandawuy, but his brother Galarrwuy who participated in the discussions with Mal Brough and Noel Pearson that resulted in the 99 year lease of Ski Beach to the Federal Government.

And this happen's to other family today...We are not all at fault..I think everyone on earth needs to move on things happen in life out of hurt and greed...So instead of blam and quilt..Move on and learn to live together..What would we do too each other, if the world was ending...I dont need to say sorry...

A gift from me to you from my travels throughout Australia, these pictures were taken by me but they should be available for all.

At present the document is stuck in a small glass case which people walk by without even a glance in a Sydney museum, from so far to end up still without a voice is not good atall

The pics were uploaded big so that you can save them big!
